YouTuber Kira Shannon developed her vision for her channel after researching what performed well on the platform. Now a viral sensation, she’s the go-to channel to look for try-on haul inspiration.
In a new interview with Ruthless Media, Kira explained that during the initial phase of creating online content, she frequently came across try-on hauls where influencers would specifically order a variety of clothes to try on for their subscribers to see.
Instantly, Kira was “super intrigued” by the concept and how successful other social media users became in the craft — leading her to start creating her own videos.
“I got the idea for try-on hauls because they were a classic style of video on YouTube that consistently performed well,” Kira said. “I was trying any video that I thought might be fun to make and that people would be interested in.”
After her first video, released in May 2020, garnered over 1.2 million views, the YouTuber decided to continue creating her intimate fashion content.
“I had no idea my first try-on haul would go so viral; I wasn’t even planning on making more until I saw it get one million views in a short period of time,” she said.
However, Kira noted that she had a backup plan if her try-on hauls didn’t continue to go viral, saying, “If the hauls didn’t take off, I would’ve kept trying until something did.”
Notably, Kira orders bikinis, leggings and summer dresses to try on for her 525,000 subscribers. Her garments come from a variety of stores and range in quality — sometimes, she even collaborates with friends and other influencers to create her content.
When filming, the YouTuber said she likes to engage with her viewers as much as possible. Oftentimes, she’ll rate how much she likes the fit, explain the reasoning and pose from all angles so her fans can get the full effect.
In discussing the best part about her viral try-on hauls, Kira said it’s the feedback from her viewers that encourages her to continue making them.
“My favorite part of the try-on hauls is reading the comments and seeing the positive and kind responses from my fans,” she shared. “They are so sweet and keep my spirits high.”
Kira continued, “I did not expect so much kindness from everyone, and it really means the world to me that my fan base is so supportive.”
