Miami is about to get even more colorful during the Cannadelic Miami 2025 festival. The event is a weed and psychedelics expo held at the Miami Airport Convention Center from May 23 to May 24, 2025. But this summit is not just another shiny convention with overpriced tinctures and cheesy mushroom merc. It is a head-on collision of science, culture, policy, and counterculture, offering an unfiltered look at the substances that are changing how we treat trauma, process consciousness, and challenge the boundaries of medicine.
The event is led by reputable doctors and other members of the Florida community who aim to highlight the benefits of microdosing. The event also dispels misconceptions about psychedelics and shows how they are beneficial in myriad treatments, particularly for mental health issues. To further illustrate this point, a live demonstration will be conducted under medical supervision, providing tangible proof that microdoses are safe and effective for various uses.
Cannadelic
Cannadelic, deemed the “world’s largest cannabis and psychedelics conference,” is known for bringing together experts from psychedelic scientists, cannabis entrepreneurs, and spiritual seekers who study how psychoactive substances and cannabis intersect. The convention will feature two days of immersive workshops and keynote speakers for those who are just curious.
This year’s guests include former Miami Dolphin and cannabis advocate Ricky Williams and Dr. Angela Fisher of St. Pete’s groundbreaking holistic mental health clinic, Bionic Bloom. The practitioner will participate in an onstage Bufo immersion, during which she will administer psychedelic toad venom to a patient in front of a live audience.
Guest Speakers
Additionally, Dr. Joseph Lichter, dubbed the “psychedelic professor” of Florida International University, will speak at the conference. He brings a sense of awe to the event, stating that he “never imagined his pursuit of the sciences would lead him down this career path.” He continues, “I didn’t have real training in psychedelics when I was starting. I’m a chemist by background. But around the very start of the pandemic in 2020, I went deep, events in Amsterdam, webinars during lockdown, just soaking it all in. And I realized we need more than just anecdotes [about psychedelics]. We need science, objectivity, and a willingness to confront our biases.”
Academic Studies
Dr. Lichter launched a psychedelic studies course at FIU’s Honor College, which draws students from across disciplines looking to learn more about new research on these seemingly taboo substances. Recent research and documentaries like Netflix’s How to Change Your Mind support claims that psychedelic substances could be beneficial in the treatment or management of mental illnesses, including through the practice of microdosing. Dr. Lichter states, “People come in thinking psychedelics are either miracle cures or dangerous party drugs. The truth is somewhere in between and way more interesting.”
The Cannadelic venue is a microcosm of the complexity of people’s perception of psychedelics and their intended uses. The event emerged from Florida’s cannabis movement, which has contended with significant pushback from state legislators. The summit has evolved into one of the country’s most important gatherings for the psychedelic and plant medicine community.
