Walk down any oral care aisle and most toothpaste products promise the same things: whitening, freshness, cavity protection, stronger enamel, and a cleaner smile. Yet despite decades of new packaging and marketing claims, the basic structure of toothpaste and its key ingredients have remained surprisingly unchanged.

That’s why ENAMÜR was developed; to innovate and improve the function of toothpaste.

Rather than focusing on stronger foaming agents or abrasive whitening ingredients, ENAMÜR was developed around a patented all-natural plant fiber technology designed to improve the physical mechanics of brushing itself. The result is a toothpaste formula that approaches oral care from a materials science perspective instead of relying solely on traditional chemistry-driven ingredients.

For consumers increasingly interested in cleaner ingredients and science-backed wellness products, ENAMÜR is carving out a unique place in modern oral care.

A Toothpaste Inspired by Biomedical Research

Unlike many oral care startups that begin with marketing trends, ENAMÜR’s foundation started in biomedical research.

The technology behind ENAMUR originated through work conducted by NovaFlux, Inc., a Princeton, NJ-based research and development company founded by physical chemist and prolific inventor, Dr. Mohamed E. Labib. Originally developed for invasive medical device cleaning applications involving biofilm removal, his research proved how microscopic cellulose fibers could help physically lift and improve biofilm removal through fluid movement and optimal surface interaction.

That discovery eventually inspired a new question: if the cellulose fibers could improve biofilm removal in tiny internal channels of medical devices, could a similar principle improve how toothpaste works during brushing?

ENAMÜR ultimately became the affirmative answer to that question.

Today, the brand uses a patented all-natural microfibrillated cellulose network derived from Nordic spruce trees. These microscopic plant fibers are incorporated into the toothpaste formula, replacing common amounts of synthetic polymer thickeners, and maintain optimal contact between the toothbrush, teeth, and gumline throughout the full brushing cycle.

The fibers work with the physical flow and movement from brushing to mechanically grip and lift plaque away from teeth and along the gumline.

Moving Beyond Foam and Abrasion

One of ENAMÜR’s central arguments is that traditional toothpaste formulas often rely on the sensation of clean rather than improving the actual effectiveness of brushing.

Many conventional products rely heavily on foaming surfactants, whitening chemicals, and abrasive polishing ingredients. While those formulas can create some immediate sensory feedback, ENAMÜR takes a different approach by focusing on sustained brushing performance throughout the recommended two-minute brushing cycle.

The brand says its formula was engineered with an “optimal frictional force” that helps improve plaque removal while remaining gentle on enamel surfaces.

Importantly, ENAMÜR emphasizes that friction and abrasiveness are not the same thing. Many whitening toothpastes depend on higher levels of abrasive particles to polish stains from teeth. ENAMÜR’s soft, hydrated, plant-based microfibrils instead rely on mechanical fiber interaction during brushing rather than harsh particle-against-enamel grinding.

The formulation also excludes several ingredients many ingredient-conscious consumers actively avoid, including:

• SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate)
• Peroxide-based whitening agents
• Bleach ingredients
• Parabens

At the same time, ENAMÜR still contains fluoride for evidence-based cavity protection and enamel remineralization support, creating a balance between modern clean-label preferences and traditional oral care standards.

Research Supporting ENAMUR; The Reason To Believe

As oral care consumers become more skeptical of broad marketing claims, clinical validation has become increasingly important within the category.

ENAMÜR points to peer-reviewed third-party studies evaluating its formulation and plaque-removal performance.

A 2023 study published in the Dentistry Journal examined plaque removal in adults using ENAMÜR compared to a leading conventional toothpaste during two weeks of normal brushing for two minutes – two times per day. According to the results, participants using ENAMÜR demonstrated up to seven times greater plaque removal during the study.

A second study published in the Journal of Dentistry in 2024 evaluated abrasion, stain removal, and whitening performance. Researchers found that ENAMUR delivered whitening and stain-removal performance comparable to leading whitening toothpastes even though it is formulated with significantly less abrasive particles and has a much lower abrasivity score.

Rather than positioning itself as simply another cosmetic toothpaste, ENAMÜR describes itself as a functional toothpaste designed to support more effective brushing mechanics and improved oral hygiene.

Science Meets Clean-Ingredient Wellness

Part of ENAMÜR’s appeal comes from its ability to bridge two categories that do not always overlap: advanced scientific R&D and wellness-focused consumer products.

The oral care market has seen increasing interest in ingredient transparency, gentler, greener, and sustainable formulations, and alternatives to heavily chemical-based products. At the same time, consumers also want products supported by measurable research and reliable proof sources  rather than trends and marketing claims alone.

ENAMÜR attempts to sit at that intersection.

Its patented plant-fiber matrix, fluoride-based cavity protection, low-abrasion formula, and research-backed evidence, all combine to provide a new product designed for consumers who want both longstanding standard-of-care reliability and effective cleaner ingredient choices in their health, beauty and cosmetic products.

A New Direction for Oral Care

With operational leadership from CEO Carmine J. Durham, backed by years of scientific development and expertise from Dr Labib behind the platform, ENAMÜR represents a different kind of oral care product — one focused less on cosmetic trends, fun flavors, and clever marketing campaigns, and more on improving the brushing experience and personal oral hygiene through research-driven design.

The company’s guiding phrase, “The Cleaner Clean You Can Truly Feel,” reflects that balance between science, functionality, and modern wellness expectations.
