In a time when most gifts are ordered quickly and forgotten just as fast, Sanded and Branded offers something intentionally different. This family-owned woodworking brand creates personalized hardwood pieces designed to mark meaningful moments—whether they celebrate life’s milestones or honor memories meant to be preserved.

Founded by Bryan and Marta Crider in South Carolina, Sanded and Branded focuses on craftsmanship, authenticity, and thoughtful customization. Every piece is built with real hardwood, engraved with purpose, and finished to highlight the natural character of the material—never to hide it.

Crafted With Intention, Not Trends

At the core of Sanded and Branded is a clear mission: to hone master craftsmanship skills while using the natural beauty of hardwood to create heirloom-quality pieces. Instead of chasing design trends or shortcuts, the brand emphasizes materials and methods that prioritize longevity and individuality.

Sanded and Branded does not paint or stain its products. Each piece receives multiple coats of clear lacquer, allowing the wood’s grain, knots, and natural color variation to remain visible. This approach ensures that no two items are exactly alike—even when customers order the same design in the same wood species.

Their guiding phrase, “Celebrating the Moments & Preserving the Memories,” reflects this philosophy: the product should support the moment, not overpower it.

From a Car Ride to a Workshop Legacy

The name “Sanded n Branded” originated during a drive between Charleston and Columbia, South Carolina. Bryan and Marta were searching for a name that conveyed both woodworking and personalization. Bryan brought years of experience in construction and building, while Marta contributed her artistic background and expertise in woodburning and engraving. The final name reflects both sides of the process—each piece carefully sanded, then permanently branded with meaning.

Over the years, Sanded and Branded has remained a multi-generational family business, three generations of the family have worked together in the shop, including Bryan’s parents, Marta’s mother, and Bryan’s three children. Bryan’s son Doug works full time beside his father, learning the craft and the business. This hands-on family driven method continuously shapes how products are made, reviewed, and delivered to customers.

Why Material Choice Matters

Sanded and Branded works exclusively with premium hardwood, never plywood, MDF, pressboard, or synthetic materials. The brand offers four standard wood options, each selected for durability and visual character:

  • Ambrosia Maple (Ghost Maple) – Light-toned with dramatic grain contrasts and natural markings
  • Cherry – Consistent color with warm tones that engrave clearly
  • Mahogany – Rich, reddish hues with uniform grain
  • Walnut – Deep, dark coloring with a bold presence

Each board is hand-selected based on the engraving design and text placement, helping ensure readability and visual balance while embracing natural variation.
