Resilience, faith, and a desire to serve others are the main pillars of author, speaker, and podcaster Samantha Peters’ path to success, though the road that led her here was neither clear nor easy.
A tough childhood can be an early introduction to life’s obstacles.
Samantha knows this personally. With substance abuse, serious health conditions, and financial insecurity surrounding her throughout her youth, Samantha learned to manage her expectations early. For a long time, she grew to believe that dreaming bigger simply was not meant for someone like her.
Today, Samantha is an author, entrepreneur, speaker, and host of the Light Up Your Life Podcast. She earned a master’s degree in teacher leadership and now uses her experience as an educator, along with the lessons she has learned through her own personal development journey, to educate, inspire, and mentor others through the Light Up Your Life Collective.
Her story demonstrates how self-doubt and adversity can become catalysts for personal growth, purpose, and a life built around authentic passion and service.
Where She Came From
During her childhood, Samantha witnessed her father struggle with alcohol and pain medication while her mother battled multiple sclerosis and cancer. Rather than having the freedom to focus on her own emotional needs, Samantha often found herself caring for the needs and well-being of the adults around her.
Both of Samantha’s parents were on Social Security, and money was tight. She remembers sitting down each Sunday to clip coupons, searching for ways to make every dollar stretch further. Growing up with both financial and emotional limitations shaped how Samantha initially viewed what was possible for her life.
But as she got older, Samantha began seeking personal development and looking beyond the circumstances she had known. She realized that if she continued allowing her past to define her future, she would never become the person she knew she was capable of becoming.
Without mentors in her immediate environment, Samantha began seeking guidance from successful people who represented the kind of growth, possibility, and impact she wanted for her own life. One of those influential figures was Ed Mylett. Meeting him became a pivotal moment in Samantha’s journey, helping her recognize that her past did not have to determine the size of her future.
She began giving herself permission to dream bigger.
Who She Had to Become
Samantha recalls competing in gymnastics as a child and looking into the stands as other children’s parents cheered them on while no one was there for her. That painful memory eventually helped her recognize something deeper: she had subconsciously learned to associate achievement with attention and significance.
That belief followed her into adulthood and influenced the way she saw herself and the circumstances around her. For years, Samantha viewed life through the lens of what had happened to her. Through personal development and deep self-reflection, she began recognizing the patterns and beliefs she had carried forward from childhood.
By becoming aware of those patterns, challenging limiting beliefs, and learning to let go of the identity created by her past, Samantha says she began reclaiming agency over her future.
Her own transformation sparked a deeper interest in the subconscious mind and limiting beliefs—areas she now incorporates into the work she shares with others. She became particularly interested in the Law of Attraction and manifestation, exploring how clarity, visualization, belief, expectation, identity, and intentional action can work together in the pursuit of meaningful goals.
For Samantha, however, manifestation is not simply about “thinking positively.” Identity is at the heart of her approach. She encourages people to examine who they believe they are, which beliefs they may have inherited from their past, and what expectations they hold for their future. Just as she had to do in her own life, Samantha encourages others to begin becoming the person capable of creating the future they envision through the actions they take today.
Light Up Your Life
Faith has become a major foundation of Samantha’s life and work. As she grew personally, she began asking God how she could use the experiences she had endured to help other people. What began as a journey of healing and personal development gradually evolved into something much bigger.
Samantha realized she wanted to create the kind of platform she wished she had access to when she was beginning her own journey, a place where people could learn directly from mentors, thought leaders, and individuals who had overcome adversity and created meaningful lives.
From that vision, the Light Up Your Life Podcast was born.
Through the podcast, Samantha interviews entrepreneurs, authors, athletes, experts, and other inspiring individuals who have faced challenges of their own. Her goal is to ask the questions that someone listening from home, someone who knows they want more for their life but may not know where to begin—might be longing to ask.
Over time, the mission grew beyond the podcast. What began through conversations and interviews evolved into the Light Up Your Life Collective, bringing together speaking, education, podcasting, mentorship, and personal development under a larger mission centered on transformation and helping others recognize what may be possible for their lives.
The Light Up Your Life Podcast has ranked among the top 100 podcasts on Apple Podcasts in the Self-Improvement category, further expanding the reach of Samantha’s message and the conversations she created the platform to share.
Who She Now Feels Called to Serve
Today, Samantha views her work as part of the path God has placed before her. She continues doing the inner work herself, incorporating practices such as affirmations, visualization, journaling, and meditation as tools for reflection and continued personal growth. Through it all, she gives God the glory for the opportunities, growth, and purpose that have unfolded throughout her journey.
Samantha has also created the Dream Bigger Manifestation Journal, along with several other published personal-development resources designed to help women pursue their own transformation. Through her podcast, publishing, mentorship, education, accountability, and community-building efforts, she continues creating resources and conversations for people who may see pieces of their own story in hers.
Samantha’s journey has taken her from being a young girl searching for attention, support, and emotional fulfillment while struggling against circumstances beyond her control to becoming a woman who has intentionally worked to understand herself, redefine what she believes is possible, and use her experiences in service of others.
Rather than allowing the memories of her past to dictate the direction of her future, Samantha chose to dream bigger and today, with faith as her foundation, she is helping others believe they can do the same.
