Throughout her storied life and career, Elizabeth TenHouten has pursued many different avenues for self-expression. As a child, she learned to paint pictures using words through the art of poetry. This form of artistry followed her into adulthood as she published the poetry book “The Stars Fell Into the Ocean.” As an adult, she explored beauty in all its forms as a model and beauty and skincare expert. For the past four years, she has also learned the unique depths of emotion that can be expressed through the perfect marriage of lyrics and music as a singer-songwriter.

Her first album, “Broken,” was released in 2020 and was the culmination of her lifelong fascination with music. Her enthusiasm for music led her to start a cover band with her middle school friends, in which she served as the guitarist and singer. She continued playing music throughout her life, but her many different talents and interests kept pulling her toward other projects.

After taking a break from music to focus on those other projects, Elizabeth dedicated herself to her dream of writing and recording her own songs in 2016. With the help of British composer, musical coach, and soon-to-be frequent collaborator Andrew Raiher, Elizabeth improved her musical craft on guitar and vocals and began exploring her unique sound and voice as a writer. She found inspiration both in her affinity for ‘90s rock bands such as Radiohead, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Portishead, Jane’s Addiction, and Alice in Chains and in her own poetry, which formed the basis of the first song she wrote, “Change Your Mind.” Over the course of many recording sessions guided by Andrew Raiher in his Santa Monica Studio, Elizabeth transformed her poetry and life experiences into songs full of life and meaning. The result became the album “Broken,” which hit all global music platforms in January 2020.

After the release of the album, she was also able to combine her modeling experience with her artistic sensibilities to film a music video to accompany her single, “Broken Dreams.” Securing the services of renowned producer and director, Richard Avis to direct the video, Elizabeth used stunning visuals to tell a modern story of heartbreak set in the Malibu Hills with a  vintage visual vibe. The video intercuts scenes of Elizabeth singing and playing guitar with a love story gone wrong, ending in a broken engagement. The single and music video were released in 2023.

Looking towards the future, Elizabeth is hard at work, gearing up for the release of her second album in 2025. For this album, she is seeking to branch out beyond her alternative rock roots and experiment with different styles for both music and lyrics from slower heartfelt ballads all the way to hard hitting rock songs. Although she has recorded a sizable amount of material for the album, she continues to feel the creative spark, looking for new ideas and sounds for her music all the time.
