For many homeowners, the backyard has become an extension of the home—a place where design, function, and comfort all come together. Grills often sit at the center of that space, used regularly for everything from casual dinners to weekend gatherings. Yet, one small detail tends to interrupt that otherwise seamless experience: the grill cover.

Most covers on the market follow the same approach. They are large, flexible, bag-style designs that need to be pulled on and off each time the grill is used. While functional, they can be inconvenient, especially for those who grill often. Over time, this can lead to inconsistent use or covers being left aside entirely.

Grill Hoodie™ was developed with this everyday friction in mind. Founded by Eugene Pressman, the brand set out to rethink how grill covers work—not by changing the routine of grilling, but by simplifying what comes after.

Rethinking a Standard Design

The idea behind Grill Hoodie™ began in 2019, when Pressman started exploring ways to improve the grill covering process. What he found was a category that hadn’t changed much over time. Regardless of brand or price, most covers functioned in nearly identical ways.

Instead of refining the existing model, Grill Hoodie™ takes a different approach. The product is built around a free-standing, hoodie-style design, allowing it to remain positioned behind the grill rather than being removed and stored elsewhere.

This shift in structure changes how the cover is used day to day. Instead of lifting a full cover over the grill, users can simply raise and lower the top section, making the process quicker and more manageable.

A Two-Part System Designed for Flexibility

Grill Hoodie™ is constructed as a two-piece system, each serving a specific role:

  • The Upper Section: Designed to cover the grill’s top and side shelves, this portion rests on a stand placed behind the grill. It can be lifted and lowered easily, similar to the motion of putting on or removing a hoodie.
  • The Lower Section: Often referred to as the “vest,” this component wraps around the grill’s body. It is adjustable, detachable, and includes a front opening that allows access without removing the entire cover.

This design allows for partial or full coverage depending on the situation, giving users more flexibility compared to traditional one-piece covers.

Focused on Ease of Use

Rather than introducing unnecessary complexity, Grill Hoodie™ emphasizes simple, practical features that support regular use:

  • A stand-supported structure that keeps the cover elevated and within reach
  • Quick-release buckles that make fastening and unfastening straightforward
  • Adjustable straps that help secure the cover in outdoor conditions
  • A front-access design that allows users to reach the grill interior without fully removing the cover

These details are intended to make the product easier to interact with, especially for those who grill frequently.

Addressing Everyday Frustrations

A common issue with traditional grill covers is not necessarily performance, but usability. Covers that are difficult to handle often end up being left off, placed on the ground, or stored separately. Over time, this can reduce how consistently they are used.

Grill Hoodie™ aims to reduce that friction by keeping the cover attached to the grilling area and simplifying how it is handled. Because it remains positioned behind the grill, it is always available when needed and less likely to be misplaced.

As the brand puts it, “If your cover isn’t a Grill Hoodie™ – then it’s just another bag!” It’s a statement that reflects the product’s focus on design rather than incremental upgrades.

A Self-Funded, Hands-On Build

Grill Hoodie™ is a fully self-funded project, shaped by years of hands-on development. Pressman built the first prototype himself, using his own grill as a testing ground. From cutting materials to constructing the stand, the process was rooted in direct experimentation.

Following early prototypes, the project evolved through collaboration with an industrial designer and rounds of testing. A patent was secured in 2022, and after further refinements, production began in 2024. By mid-2025, the product was ready for launch.

Built for Today’s Outdoor Spaces

The product is designed with a specific audience in mind: grilling enthusiasts and homeowners who care about the look and function of their outdoor areas. For these users, convenience matters—but so does how everything fits together visually.

Because Grill Hoodie™ stays positioned behind the grill and avoids being left on the ground, it can contribute to a cleaner, more organized setup. This makes it particularly relevant for those who treat their patio or backyard as a designed living space rather than just a utility area.

A Practical Shift in a Familiar Category

Grill Hoodie™ doesn’t aim to change how people grill—it focuses on improving what happens before and after. By rethinking the structure of a grill cover, the brand introduces a different way to approach a familiar product.

With a patented design, a self-funded origin story, and a focus on usability, Grill Hoodie™ offers an alternative for those looking to simplify their outdoor routine.
